Door Finishes & Color Options

Compare powder coating and wood-look aluminum finishes, organize sample approvals and coordinate colors and textures across architectural door systems.

A finish selection should establish more than a color name. Substrate, process, texture, gloss and the way a surface is divided across a door all affect the final appearance. This library helps you prepare a finish brief that can be checked against the actual proposed construction.

Choose an appearance direction

Powder-coated finishes begin with color, texture and gloss, then require review of the complete preparation and coating system. Wood-grain aluminum adds questions about pattern repeat, grain direction and the relationship between individual profiles or panels.

Natural wood and veneer require a separate material and surface discussion. Visit the wood species guide when the intention is a real wood surface rather than a timber-look finish on metal.

Build a sample approval record

Selection item Detail to record
Substrate and component What the finish will be applied to and where it is visible
Appearance Color reference, texture, gloss and approved sample
Layout Grain direction, joins, panel divisions and visible edges
Coordination Relationship to frames, trims, handles and adjacent building materials
Variation Acceptable differences within or between production batches

A screen image can narrow the options, but it is not a precise color acceptance standard. Review physical samples under representative light when appearance or coordination is critical.

Match the finish to exposure and care

Describe exterior exposure, coastal conditions, persistent moisture and the cleaning regime. Ask for the applicable finish information and maintenance instructions. A coating name alone cannot establish resistance to every environment or a universal service life.

Where the project calls for a specific coating technology or performance requirement, submit that requirement for review. Availability and technical evidence must be confirmed before a particular process is presented as part of the order.

Coordinate across different door systems

The same color reference can appear different on unlike substrates, profiles or surface textures. Review entrance and garage samples together and record which differences are acceptable. The façade coordination guide explains how to combine visual consistency with separate operating requirements.

Send the door systems, elevation, destination and finish references through Request a Quote. Preserve approved sample references with the final drawings so the agreed appearance remains traceable through quotation, supply and receiving inspection.
